Friday; England beat Australia at cricket, to avoid a 10-0 whitewash, then all the quips about an open bus tour abound.
Saturday; Jonny Wilkinson makes a god like return to the rugby team, though Harry Ellis and the pack did all the hard work...suddenly the world of English sport is rosy and numbers joining the Sport'ers Club now numbers 236.
Anyways, apologies for the delay in this posting , I have been busy you know with the launch of the West Country Sport'ers Club which attracted a fair deal of media attention ... okay in my world a piece in the business section of the local evening paper and three radio stations, does constitute a media whirlwind.
Anyways 19 clubs turned up or expressed an interest in what we are doing. That is 18 more than in Wales, which shows that for the last seven months I should have been working in England.
So most of the next month, will be spent talking to sponsorship officers and going through the usual routine...so here are the standard answers in advanve for your questions.
"No its not a con, the more people that sign up to Sport'ers Club, the more businesses will want to join, and they can only join if they invest directly into sports clubs such as yours."
"Yes, it only takes you the time it takes to forward an e-mail."
"It maybe a waste of time, but we have only wasted less than 60 seconds of it!"
If you live in the West Country and want any posters by the way, please feel free to download them from here.
